The US military has largely replaced the M16 in frontline combat units with a shorter and lighter version, the M4 carbine. Total worldwide production of M16s is approximately 8 million, making it the most-produced firearm of its 5.56 mm caliber. The M16 has also been widely adopted by other armed forces around the world. It is equipped with a removable carrying handle and Picatinny rail for mounting optics and other ancillary devices. Adopted in July 1997, the M16A4 is the fourth generation of the M16 series. ![]() Working versions were ready by 1982, hence the designation M82. Photo: US Army XM-21/M-21 Snipers rifle as used in Viet Nam. Not a knock against Scionics, just something I noticed that doesn't add up. XM-21 7.62mm NATO Sniper Rifle with Sionics Suppressor. The gun in this video is claimed to have almost twice that without being cleaned, yet it looks pretty damn clean to me. They ran that gun 20k rounds without cleaning and it had shit pouring out of every orifice. Take a look at Ballistic Radio's test of a KAC SR-15 Mod 2. It is short enough to be handy, but long enough for. The barrel length chosen for this rifle is perfect for a do-everything AR. The muzzle wears a Sionics muzzle brake, which seems to be very effective. The guy claims the gun has 35k rounds through it without cleaning, yet you can see the bolt carrier through the ejection port at the end of the video and it looks clean. The Perimeter Marksman rifle is built around a match grade stainless steel eighteen and one-half inch barrel with a one-in-eight-inches twist. ![]()
